COMPANY OVERVIEW
We are a product focused specialty pharmaceutical
company that has developed three proprietary platforms,
two of which now include FDA approved products. Our
products typically improve safety and efficacy profiles
by minimizing dosing and reducing side effects while
improving patient compliance.
History
Antares was formed in 2001 when Medi-Ject Corporation (a
device company) merged with Permatec Holding AG (a
developer of transdermal delivery systems). In the late
1970’s Medi-Ject was one of the first companies to
develop reusable needle-free injection devices. Since
that time costs have decreased and the technology has
gained acceptance. Presently we have broad approval for
our device in the US for insulin and in Europe, Asia and
elsewhere for human growth hormone. We have recently
added a disposable mini-needle product which uses a
disposable single use small gauge needle for unit dose
injectable drugs.
Prior to moving to Switzerland in 1999, Permatec was
originally known for the estradiol patch, which was
developed and marketed in Argentina.
As next-generation products were
invented and developed, the focus became transdermal gel
delivery and fast-melt tablet technologies.
Antares now also has a number of ATD™ gel products
including products marketed in the US and Europe as well
as products in clinical trials and development.
