Dr. Wotton joined Antares as President and Chief Operating Officer in July 2008 and was appointed President and CEO in October 2008. Previously, Dr. Wotton served as CEO of Topigen Pharmaceuticals Inc., a biotechnology company in Montreal. Prior to joining Topigen, Dr. Wotton served as Head of Global Business Development at SkyePharma PLC., and also held senior level positions at Eurand International BV, Penwest Pharmaceuticals, Abbott Laboratories and Merck, Sharp and Dohme. Dr. Wotton received his Ph.D. in pharmaceutical science from the University of Nottingham. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Antares Pharma. Dr. Wotton is also past Chairman of the Emerging Companies Advisory Board of BIOTECanada.
Mr. Apple joined the Company in February 2006 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Apple served as Chief Operating and Financial Officer at InKine Pharmaceutical Company, Inc. from 2003 to 2005, and Chief Financial Officer from 1997 to 2002. From 1995 to 1997, Mr. Apple was employed by Genaera Corporation, Inc., a biotechnology company, where he held the position of Corporate Controller. From May 1994 until July 1995, Mr. Apple was employed by Liberty Technologies, Inc. as Corporate Controller. Prior to May 1994, Mr. Apple held positions of increasing responsibility at Arthur Andersen & Company LLP. He holds a B.A. degree in accounting from Temple University and is a CPA.
Dr. Dave is our Executive Vice President of Product Development. Dr. Dave joined the Company in March 2008 from Transave Inhalation Biotherapeutics Inc., where he was Executive Director of Clinical, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Compliance and Program Management. Prior to that, Dr. Dave was employed at Palatin as Vice President Product Development where he obtained the approval of NeutroSpec®, a monoclonol antibody based product, and launched the product in US. Prior to working at Palatin Dr. Dave was employed at Schering-Plough from 1997 to 2001 and Merck from 1990 to 1996. Dr. Dave received his pharmacy degree from University of Bath, UK and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from University of Kansas. Dr. Dave also received an M.B.A. degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Sadowski joined Medi-Ject Corporation, a predecessor company to Anatares Pharma, in March 1994 as Vice President, Product Development. In 2001 Dr. Sadowski became Vice President of the Company’s Devices Group where he led the conceptualization and development of the VIBEX mini-needle injection technology platform. In 2009 he was promoted to Senior Vice President and General Manager, Parenteral Products Group. Prior to joining the Company, Dr. Sadowski led product development teams at Molecular Genetics, Inc., GalaGen, Inc., and American Biosystems, Inc. Dr. Sadowski holds a Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Minnesota.
Mr. Handa joined the Company in January 2010 as Senior Vice President of Business Development. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Handa served as Vice President and Head of Business Development and Alliance Management for Noven Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a leading specialty pharma and drug delivery company. Prior to joining Noven, he served as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Portfolio Management at Pharmacologics LLC, a drug development venture capital affiliate of MDS Inc., and held senior business development positions at Enzon Pharmaceuticals and Union Carbide Corporation. He received his MBA in finance and marketing from the University of Cincinnati.
LeRoux Jooste joined the Company in May 2012 as Senior Vice President of Pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing. Prior to joining the Company Mr. Jooste held leadership positions in sales, marketing and commercial operations at Cephalon, most recently serving as Vice President Commercial Assessment and New Product Planning. Prior to joining Cephalon, Mr. Jooste was Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing at Nabi Biopharmaceuticals and he was the Chief Operating Officer of Aton Pharma, where he built the organization from the ground up and managed all aspects of a start-up biotech company developing products to treat cancer. Earlier in his career he held positions with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and Eli Lilly & Co. His major product launch successes include Prozac®, Ceclor®, Gemzar®, Humulin®, Enbrel® and Effexor XR®. Mr. Jooste received his diploma in Pharmacy from Pretoria Technikon in South Africa, and a Bachelor of Commerce, Economics and Industrial Psychology from The University of South Africa.
Mr. Hayes joined the Company in August 2008 as Vice President of Corporate Marketing. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Hayes was Senior Director, Strategic Marketing for MedPointe Pharmaceuticals, responsible for musculoskeletal new product strategy and commercial launch plans. Previous to working at MedPointe, Mr. Hayes held positions of increasing responsibility in sales and marketing at Merck, MGI Pharma and GD Searle where he directed the managed care launch strategy for Searle’s arthritis drugs, Celebrex® and Arthrotec®. He holds a BS in Biochemistry and Biophysics from Oregon State University and an MBA in strategic management from Arizona State University.
Mr. Howarth joined the Company in February 2012 as Vice President of Corporate Affairs. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Howarth was employed at King Pharmaceuticals as Vice President of Investor Relations, joining the company through King’s acquisition of Alpharma. Prior to King Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Howarth held senior leadership positions spanning 25 years in investor and media relations at KOS Pharmaceuticals and Elan Corporation, and positions of increasing responsibility in finance and corporate development at Warner Lambert Company. Mr. Howarth received his B.S. degree in Accounting from Boston College and his M.B.A. in Finance from Seton Hall University.
Mr. Madsen joined the Company in November 2010 as Vice President of Product Development, Parenteral Products Division. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Madsen was employed at Hutchinson Technology Inc., from 1999 to 2010, in positions of increasing responsibility, most recently serving as Director of Engineering in the BioMedical Division. Mr. Madsen successfully led the development and commercial launch of Hutchinson’s advanced mobile sensors for monitoring tissue oxygenation. Prior to joining Hutchinson Technology, Mr. Madsen was employed by Boston Scientific Corporation, Inc. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of North Dakota.
